Start with the application—not a catalog number
The strongest cleaning process is built around the complete requirement: part material and geometry, incoming contamination, cleanliness criteria, throughput, downstream operations, available utilities, environmental constraints and operator involvement. Equipment and chemistry should be evaluated together because each affects the other.
- Document the part: dimensions, weight, geometry, materials and load orientation.
- Define the soil: oils, coolants, polishing compounds, oxides, particulate or process residues.
- Set the acceptance criteria: visual cleanliness, gravimetric limits, water-break-free surfaces, particle limits or validated specifications.
- Map the production need: parts per hour, batch size, changeovers, traceability and automation.
