RAILWAY AXLE WASHER
Washer designed to clean railway axles.
The PROCECO Axle Washer is an automatic spray washer fed by a conveyor, specifically designed for cleaning railway axles during the remanufacturing process. An overhead crane system facilitates the direct loading of axles onto the conveyor at the washer’s entrance.
The “Aqua” dual-type conveyor chain provides exceptional corrosion resistance. During the cleaning cycle, the axle rotates automatically, exposing its entire surface, allowing the cleaning jets to thoroughly wash each axle as it progresses along the conveyor. After the cleaning process, the conveyor pushes the axle onto a roller that transports it toward the washer’s exit. Each PROCECO parts washer can be easily customized by incorporating various pre-engineered options to enhance system performance and meet your specific cleaning requirements.
For new axles following machining, a fully automated multi-stage process includes spray cleaning with a low-percentage alkaline detergent, spray rinsing with a rust inhibitor, blow-off drying, and a cooling stage for measuring wheel seats for proper fit.
When cleaning new axles coming out of storage that require the removal of Cosmoline-type petroleum-based corrosion inhibitors, PROCECO systems utilize low concentrations of aqueous-based detergents at elevated temperatures.

For used axles, PROCECO can integrate an additional brush cleaning stage that employs rotating steel wire brushes on the spinning axle, ensuring thorough cleaning of both the wheel and bearing seats simultaneously.
